Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bowling coach Morne Morkel announced on Monday that quick Mayank Yadav passed fitness tests and is expected to play against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
The 21-year-old left the field after bowling only one over against the Gujarat Titans earlier in the tournament.
Vinod Bisht, Chief Executive Officer of LSG, stated that the speedster had “soreness in the lower abdominal area” and that his workload would be limited.
The cricket world is eager to witness his incredible speed, which baffles batters.
LSG bowling coach Morkel announced ahead of the match against MI that Mayank had passed the fitness test and that the team is “excited to have him back in the squad.”
“Mayank Yadav is fit. He passed all of his fitness tests. We are delighted to have him back in the squad and potentially playing 12 tomorrow,” Morkel said in the pre-match press conference.
Ahead of LSG’s match against the Rajasthan Royals, Sriram provided an update on the pacer’s fitness and potential return.
“He is bowling today in the nets. So we’ll see how he does after today; he’s getting close, so hopefully, fingers crossed,” Sriram said at the pre-match press conference.
Mayank ignited the IPL 2024 with his fiery pace against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He took six wickets in both matches and was named ‘Player of the Match’ in each.
Mayank consistently reached speeds of 150 kmph, and his control over line and length astounded many.
Whenever he has been handed the ball, he has delivered thunderbolts, including one against RCB that clocked 156.7 kph, the fastest by far this IPL season and the fourth-fastest in the tournament’s history.
