magic win

Virat Kohli is facing a slump in the current T20 World Cup, accumulating just 75 runs in seven innings.

Virat Kohli is experiencing a rough patch in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, having scored a mere 75 runs across seven innings in this tournament. His struggles with form have included two instances of being dismissed without scoring. In Thursday’s semi-final against England, Kohli once again faltered, managing only 9 runs off 9 balls before being dismissed by Reece Topley in the third over of India’s innings. Despite this, captain Rohit Sharma continues to support Kohli, stating that his form is not a major concern.

“He (Kohli) is a quality player. Any player can go through this. We recognize his class and significance. Form is not a problem. The intent is evident. We are absolutely backing Kohli for the final,” Rohit said after the match.

India has reached the T20 World Cup final for the first time in a decade. Under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, the team secured a comprehensive 68-run victory over England in the second semi-final at Providence Stadium, Guyana, on Thursday. This win sets up a final against South Africa, who defeated Afghanistan by 9 wickets in the first semi-final.

In Guyana, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav played pivotal roles, helping India post a total of 171 for 7 in their 20 overs after being asked to bat first. India was struggling at 40 for 2 in 5.2 overs before Rohit and Suryakumar put together a crucial 73-run partnership to stabilize the innings. Rohit scored 57 off 39 balls, while Suryakumar contributed 47 off 36.

In the second innings, Axar Patel disrupted England’s chase with impressive figures of 3 for 23, while Kuldeep Yadav also performed well, taking 3 for 19.

“We have remained very calm as a team. We understand the significance of the final. Staying composed helps you make good decisions, which will be crucial for us in the final. You have to play good cricket, and that’s our goal for the final,” Rohit commented.
