NEW DELHI: Dinesh Karthik, the seasoned wicketkeeper-batsman, is set to make his final appearance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024, which begins March 22.
Following his IPL stint, the 38-year-old stalwart will consider retiring from international cricket, capping off an illustrious career.
According to a BCCI source, Karthik will play his final IPL season.
Karthik, who has an impressive IPL record, has been a staple of the league since its inception in 2008, representing six different teams over the years.
Karthik began his IPL career with the Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) in 2008 and has since played for Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Lions, Kolkata Knight Riders, and his current team, Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Karthik, who is known for his astute batting prowess and leadership abilities, has received accolades and admiration from both fans and pundits for his impactful performances in the IPL. Notably, his outstanding performance for RCB in the 2022 season, in which he scored 330 runs in 16 matches at an impressive average of 55 and a staggering strike rate of 183.33, cemented his reputation as a formidable finisher.
