magic win

Hardik Pandya, the Mumbai Indians captain, has been fined for violating the Code of Conduct during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against the Punjab Kings on Thursday.

Hardik, the Mumbai franchise’s captain, failed to complete the required 20 overs of bowling and was fined INR 12 lakh. In a statement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed this.

Given that this was Hardik’s first failure to meet the over-rate criteria, a fine of only Rs. 12 lakh was imposed.

“Hardik Pandya, the Mumbai Indians captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Punjab Kings at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur on April 18,” a statement issued by the BCCI following the match stated.

A repeat of the offense could land Hardik and other Mumbai Indians players in deeper trouble.

In the match, MI maintained their composure to secure their third win of the IPL 2024 season.

Harpreet Singh Bhatia, an impact player, came out to bat after four wickets had fallen. Bhatia and Shashank Singh formed a small partnership of 35 runs as the hosts lost half of their side for 49, with Bhatia dismissed after 13 runs.

After the fifth wicket fell, PBKS wicketkeeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma joined Shashank at the crease. Both batters combined to score 28 runs before Jitesh was dismissed for nine.

Following Jitesh’s dismissal, Ashutosh Sharma came out to bat. He and Shashank formed a 34-run partnership before the latter was dismissed after a brilliant knock of 41 runs from just 25 balls, including three maximums and two boundaries.

Ashutosh slammed 61 runs in just 28 balls, including seven sixes and two fours, and Harpreet Brar (21 from 20) played crucial knocks for the side, but it was insufficient to get Punjab over the line, as they were bowled out for 183 runs in the final over.
