The entire nation of India was devastated upon hearing the tragic news of the passing of renowned industrialist Ratan Tata. The chairman of the Tata Group breathed his last at the age of 86 on Wednesday night. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that his final rites would be conducted with full state honors. Tata’s body will be placed at the lawns of Mumbai’s National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the public to pay their respects.
As millions of Indians mourned, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was among the first to visit Tata’s residence to offer his final respects. Sachin also posted an emotional tribute on Instagram, praising Ratan Tata for his deep love for animals.
“Mr. Ratan Tata has touched the nation both in life and death. I was lucky to spend time with him, yet millions who never met him share the same sorrow I feel today. Such is his impact,” Sachin wrote.
“From his love for animals to his philanthropic efforts, he demonstrated that real progress comes when we care for those unable to care for themselves. Rest in peace, Mr. Tata. Your legacy will live on through the institutions you built and the values you upheld,” he added.
India’s cricket captain, Rohit Sharma, also shared a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “A man with a heart of gold. Sir, you will always be remembered as someone who genuinely cared and lived to improve the lives of others.”
Ratan Tata, one of India’s most respected and beloved industrialists, elevated the Tata Group to great heights and left a profound impact on the nation through his contributions in various fields, including philanthropy.
