magic win

India’s top singles player, Sumit Nagal, achieved a victory over Elias Ymer to start the Nordea Open with a win on Tuesday. Heading into the ATP 250 event, Nagal had a 0-2 head-to-head record against the Swedish wild card. However, Nagal continued his strong form with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Ymer, who has seen considerable success in events held in India. Nagal had previously lost to Ymer at the Split Open in Croatia last year and in Lyon, France, in 2019. Currently ranked 68th in the ATP singles chart, Nagal will next face the world number 36, Mariano Navone from Argentina.

Nagal is also set to represent India at the Paris Olympics.

Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna and N Sriram Balaji, who will also compete in Paris in men’s doubles, are preparing for their first ATP Tour event together. They are slated to play against the German duo of Mark Wallner and Jakob Schnaitter in the opening round of the Hamburg Open, an ATP 500 event, on Wednesday.
