Star Indian batter Virat Kohli, widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers in the world, was recently asked to choose his favorite rival in the IPL between the five-time champions Mumbai Indians and the three-time winners Kolkata Knight Riders. Kohli, who has been with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) since the inaugural IPL season in 2008, selected Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as his favorite rival.
Kohli’s contribution to Indian cricket has been immense, with his powerful batting breaking numerous records, and he continues to chase Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 international centuries. Although RCB, despite their strong fan base, has yet to win an IPL title, Kohli’s impact on the franchise has been significant.
Earlier this week, Kohli marked 16 years since his international debut, which occurred in a 2008 ODI against Sri Lanka at Dambulla, just months after he led India to victory in the Under-19 World Cup. BCCI secretary Jay Shah congratulated Kohli on this milestone, celebrating his legendary career.
Since his debut, Kohli has become a dominant force in international cricket, accumulating 13,906 runs in 295 ODIs, with 50 centuries—27 of which came in run-chases. He has also amassed 8,848 runs in 113 Test matches and 4,188 runs in 125 T20Is.
